Fraunhofer Center for Energy and Systems ZESS
As part of the technology demonstration, the developed concepts and designs are implemented and tested as prototypes. Fraunhofer ZESS can also characterize prototypes developed by other companies. The term “prototype” encompasses battery cells as well as batteries and battery systems. Hybrid systems (e.g. sodium-nickel chloride batteries with photovoltaic systems or fuel cell systems), including all components used, can also be put into operation and tested.
Specially developed mechanisms, processes, and test benches are used to ensure that all quality assurance requirements are met. Fraunhofer ZESS offers the necessary resources for this, including both the available infrastructure and the personnel required to carry out the tests and analyze the data.
