In the manufacture of battery cells, the properties and quality of the intermediate products along the process chain play a key role. This is particularly true for solid-state batteries due to the currently very high material costs and the many unknown interactions between novel materials. Comprehensive characterization of the raw materials as well as the intermediate and end products is therefore necessary. Accordingly, Fraunhofer ZESS is pursuing the development of high-precision and reproducible measurement methods and analytical procedures on the one hand, and the introduction of (calibration) standards and strategies for the traceability of measured variables on the other. This also includes the use and further development of established inline analysis and testing methods for components, products, and production processes in the context of industrial high-throughput production.
